Solution to lack of memory on Wii

Since the launch of Wii in November 2006, the lack of memory on the console has been one of the most criticized sections of the Nintendo console, something that has to grow with the rise of titles available for download in the Wii Shop Channel and WiiWare. The company today has updated its console with firmware 4.0, which finally allows to download games directly to SD card or to have to boot from it, now may be larger than 2GB fortunately. Saved games are stored in flash memory of the console.

A small cosmetic change will continue to update this because it will have an icon in the bottom left menu and you can save up to 240 titles on the same card. Although it seems somewhat rudimentary it is true that this measure will save the items in more than a hobby, since the Wii has 256 MB which seemed insufficient to say the least given the increasingly strong presence of digital distribution.

The loading times are not too long. Eurogamer says the games that run on the SD is transferred to a temporary flash of the console, which translates to lower load times. In fact, the NES games loaded in a couple of seconds while titles such as Nintendo 64 will be close to fifteen seconds.

“They buy Wii games to buy for the same reason that people go to McDonald’s. McDonald’s does not win many prizes from the critics but restaurants are accessible, consistent and you know what you will serve. ”

“Nintendo has become a fast-food machine. Sony is a much more prestigious restaurant. And Microsoft is something in between, “said the analyst.

The truth is that in his opinion, it is attractive enough and a cover name or a particular concept to convince the visitor that this is the title you must purchase:

“If the concept is right, if the recognition factor is there, if you are attracted by what is in the box, sometimes the game does not have to be equally good to sell.”
