Game review: Final Fantasy

There are many people who are in love with the games of old, when games were simple and yet so powerful. But you must realize that the old has to give way for the new. That is what development is all about. If you just get caught up in history, there is very little that would come by, in terms of any improvement. This is why in terms of RPG development, the game Final Fantasy has show a lot of progress. This was necessary to stem the tide of waning fan collection, such that new features in the game would be able to bring about new fans. The adulation of fans and the interest in the game is what Final Fantasy III aspires for.

There are some new aspects of the game that have been brought about to revive interest in the game. For one, the game focuses on strategy, which can keep gamers at the edge of their seat and riveted to the game. In addition, there are beautiful visuals and wonderful music that goes a long way in ensuring that the new Final Fantasy game stands out. The whole experience is also quite streamlined and is able to bring about freshness to the game.

Game Review: Total War

Total War is a game that has had many fans over the years, and with good reason. The game had taken its players on a spin, with the war on so many colonies. There was an old-world charm to the whole affair, with the possibility of forming quite a few coalitions, based on whatever combinations that suit your fancy. The avowed aim was to unify the New World, and you also learn a little about history along the way. You get an opportunity to fight the war like Napoleon, and get more success than him at Waterloo. So in a way, you can not only relive history, but also tweak it around based on your fancy.

With Total War, it is possible to have a look at the life of Napoleon the Great. Here you have a look at how the little man emerged from his home in the island, as also then onto the French stage and indeed onto the continent. You will also get a chance to get to the desert, where you see that the army did not do well in the Egyptian desert. There is also a chance that you can get back to Europe for a change in destiny. In any case, it is possible to take sides with Russia, Prussia, Austria or Great Britain which had chosen to oppose the Napoleonic army. The choice is entirely yours.

Shiren the Wanderer: Game Review

Shiren the Wanderer takes you back in time. This is a time when there was depth in the gameplay of games  and where you saw the look and feel of games being like computer hieroglyphics. There was some sort of old-world charm to the games, that had you mesmerized and spell bound too. This is quite a punishing game of tactics, where you have to apply all the strategies that you can, in order to come up trumps. The style of the game is such that it does not take into account the developments in the RPG field that have taken place over the last thirty years or so.  So those who are die-hard fans of RPG need to beware.

Shiren the Wanderer looks at the game where there is a huge dungeon, at the bottom of which there is a treasure.  The treasure needs to be fetched from the bottom, but there are a lot of challenges and obstacles to be faced. If your character dies during the game, all the previous good work is totally undone and you are left to start off all over again. While this can be tedious for some, there are fans of the game who do not mind this at all, and are more than willing to start again from scratch.

Bad Company 2: Game Preview

There are some games that gain iconic status. There are quite a few of these games that have captured the imagination of a whole generation of gamers, which do not get erased from public and private memory very easily. One of these games is Bad Company. Now you can have a preview of Bad Company 2, which has liberally taken from Modern Warfare as well as the Battlefield. The combination of these two games seems strange at first look, but it has its appealing parts too. The game is a spoof on the Battlefield in some ways,  while making quite a few improvements in the game too.

Bad Company 2 begins where Bad Company left off. Bad Company as a game was well known for being its creator’s first shot at being a single player game that was story line driven and based. The end of the game saw its main players Redford, Sweetwater, Marlowe and Haggard as driving away into the distance with their truck laden with gold bars. In Bad Company 2, the start of the game makes it evident that the gang has lost all its gold. The main plot revolves of how the mercenaries have to pit their wits together to ensure that they are independently and adequately wealthy. Makes for quite an interesting plot!

Game review: Dynasty Warriors

There are a lot of folks who find Dynasty Warriors quite a forgettable experience. There are aspects of the game that do not inspire much awe or admiration. The game series has just a few basic concepts that seemed to have exhausted themselves. The game was based on the issue of uniting or destroying feudal China. And it was based only on a single controller button,  that seemed to be all powerful in winning or losing the game. And now you have Strikeforce that takes inspiration from the Dynasty Warriors game. There are some who feel that the game does not add much to the older version.  The mashing controller button seems to be all powerful even now.

But there are some aspects of Strikeforce that are rather distinctive. It has some alterations that tweak the game to an extent that it seems quite different from the original Dynasty Warriors. The problem is not distinctiveness.  It’s more about the fact that the game is patently boring and could do with a serious dose of excitement. Now you have small rooms that you have to cross, and while these areas do have a lot of stuff, you do miss the earlier wide expanses of battles in the plains.

Salient aspects of Resident Evil 5

There are times when some games create a deep and indelible impression on your mind. That is why, even you have long stopped playing the game, its memory seems etched in your memory and you just cannot shake it out of your consciousness. One of these games is Resident Evil 5, which so many people and gamers are just gushing wildly about. There are some aspects about the Resident Evil 5, which others found gross as well as regressive. But then, what is regressive to one, can well be exciting and splendid to another. That is why I would like to reserve my own comments about the game, without being guided what others have to say about it.

With the Resident Evil 5, the scenes and the plots involving the mercenaries and all the other effects are so riveting, that as far as I am concerned, I can spend hours with the game. Of course, it would not be right for me to speak for others, given the fact that some have expressed reservations about the game. Frankly, I am amazed about other’s opinion, as I think the world of Resident Evil 5 and the excitement that it is able to arouse in me.

Heavy Rain review

The thriller Heavy Rain is keenly awaited in many quarters which explains the eagerness with which people are lapping up the mystery tie in game that is based on it. The creator of Heavy Rain is Quantic Dream and it was quite an unexpected bonanza to be able to check out the demo of this new game. And to have this a week before the actual release of the game is like cherry on the cake.

The start of the game based on Heavy Rain was with a scrambled word puzzle which in turn led to a Twitter account. Once you logged in here, you faced another challenge that was based on YouTube. There you had to engage a woman on the phone, after she had called 911, till such times as the police tuned up on the scene of the crime. Success on this would lead to the last puzzle that consisted of four clues or pieces of evidence that had to be pieced together so as to give some headway to the investigation. If you succeeded, you got a congratulatory message online and a voucher code that would allow a free download of the game. This is indeed quite a bonanza for someone who has been just waiting to get his hands on Heavy Rain for quite some time.
