In a move that gives us a glimpse of the future of netbooks, ASUS will be launching Eee PC’s with touchscreen and with dual core Atom based CPU’s.
According to the report made by general manager of business Samson Hu, Asustek will be producing the touchscreen Eee PC’s early in 2009 and they are hoping this will push sales in their direction even more with the new addition to their successful netbook range.
The dual core CPU will be added once Intel is ready to ship them out to ASUS and will be built with a netbook in mind giving better performance than current CPU’s used in netbooks. There is no date set for release of the dual core’s yet.
Jerry Shen, president of Asustek also revealed that Asus will be releasing a sub $300 Eee PC at some point during 2009.
Clearly, Asus are pushing forward into the future with the Eee PC and it looks like a win-win future for netbook buyers and Asus alike.
